Interpretation and Illustrative Mapping
Using our own data and knowledge of contemporary design software, we also produce artistic, illustrative mapping that provides a more creative approach to cartographic communication.
Public transport and bus route maps in particular are a specialty, and we have produced interactive, themed mapping for Country Parks, Visitor Guides, special events and corporate brochures as well as a number of thematic maps for Council registers and websites.
In 2007, Walking Distance designed, produced and installed a number of Visitor Interpretation Panels in Botley, Hampshire as part of a Market Towns Development Programme. Similar boards combining maps with photographs, information and local advertising are installed in the New Forest.
The iconic map for the UniLink bus service at Southampton University is a Walking Distance design - a unique combination of corporate identity, real-time and schematic cartography.
